One thing has changed. The DAWN of the MECHANICAL MAN means that I just asked an ai what all this is and how to fix it.
It told me to buy a better dvi to hdmi adapter. I told it, "why would I do that when I can just use amdgpu.dc=0 to fix it?" it said that's not a real fix but that what it was doing was basically cheating it to work but that it's better to buy a better adapter. I told it no, I want a software fix, and it gave me one. I simply needed to chuck the following in grub: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash video=DP-1:2560x1440@60e" Now I get all the wonders of dc=1! What wonders? No idea. Maybe video games will run prettier now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1799613 Title: In kernel 4.14.59, monitor resolution is detected correctly.
