I was only thinking of dpdk-divert, which isn't suitable - had a faint memory that failed me and came up with the solution above. Kudos to my Team of reminding me that there is a better way - dpkg-statoverride [1] which is meant to do exactly that.
So the much better way over the hook is to do it that way ``` #1 tell dpkg that this is the permission you want to keep on that file $ dpkg-statoverride --add root root 4755 /usr/lib/qemu/qemu-bridge-helper #2a Either set the permission you want to be effective now $ chmod u+s /usr/lib/qemu/qemu-bridge-helper #2b or you can re-install the pkg which will apply the above setting $ apt install --reinstall qemu-system-common ``` [1]: https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/noble/man1/dpkg- statoverride.1.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2107611 Title: Keep chmod u+s /usr/lib/qemu/qemu-bridge-helper To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/2107611/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
