I was only thinking of dpdk-divert, which isn't suitable - had a faint
memory that failed me and came up with the solution above. Kudos to my
Team of reminding me that there is a better way - dpkg-statoverride [1]
which is meant to do exactly that.

So the much better way over the hook is to do it that way

```
#1 tell dpkg that this is the permission you want to keep on that file
$ dpkg-statoverride --add root root 4755 /usr/lib/qemu/qemu-bridge-helper

#2a Either set the permission you want to be effective now
$ chmod u+s /usr/lib/qemu/qemu-bridge-helper
#2b or you can re-install the pkg which will apply the above setting
$ apt install --reinstall qemu-system-common
```
