It is David, and thank you for your response To the panel I add a drawer, to the drawer I add three or four applications, one of them being tomboy notes, about half the time that i use tomboy from the drawer and close tomboy, i get a dublicate tomboy application in the drawer. Eventually when I go to open the drawer and try to access any application, I am given a message that maybe the configuration is not compatible (to what i dont know). It is then that I notice the duplicate tomboy icon. But, also it is then that it is too late, because as soon as the error msg flashes on the screen, my panel is wiped. All the application icons are gone from the panel including the drawer and its contents, though the panel remains with the time and my name. Afterwards, I can right click the panel and re-add my icons. So, I dont know what is going on with it. (also it should be noted, that in between all this i did once get a msg the kde was unable to load - to my knowledge I do not have kde desktop installed only gnome -- but then i am a relative newbe )
This only happens maybe 3 of the 25 times i used the drawer. I have since then stop using the drawer and have had not further problems I do continue to use tomyboy notes. So I think it has something to do with the drawer and tomboy notes. Although the first time it happened I was trying to access firefox from the drawer, still there was a duplicate tomboynotes. As far as the log on screen: I discovered that somehow I had several styles checked. I unchecked all but one, and that fixed that problem. Go figure !! That one is on me, sorry. Thanx, and good luck btimb on a side note, I want to commend all the developers and coordinators of Ubuntu, I think you have and outstanding product -- it needs a few additions to make it truely comparable to windows o/s -- and I am very happy with it and glad that I decided to add it to my computer. I use it about 95 percent of the time.
