I have the same problem.  Using Kubuntu 7.10, XFS, generic kernel.
Nothing can be read from disk after running "lvcreate -s <snapshot_name>
-L <size> <lv_name>" (pretty sure that's the command I used, not at that
computer right now to check though).  As such, programs that are not
already running cannot be started, and programs that are already running
cannot read from disk.  Anything that tries to do so hangs.  ctrl+c does
not kill program, neither does kill -9.  Hard reset is all that can be
done.
