Wouldn't it be possible to show the signal level instead of a link quality in case the latter is not reported properly by the driver? I've got a wireless card using the rt2x00 driver, which indeed does not report link quality, but in fact it does report signal level (e.g. -61dBm); the signal strength display being completely empty even though there is a connection is slightly annoying.. Guess it might not be that huge effort to change this; please correct me if I'm wrong here. :)
