The printer doesn't work in 22.04 or 24.04 either, but I found a
workaround for 24.04, which is to install printer-driver-gutenprint and
lib32stdc++6. In hindsight, I should maybe have guessed that because the
printer is fairly old, it would need a 32-bit library that's no longer
installed by default. Troubleshooting would've been a lot faster if any
of the error messages had given the names of the missing packages.
I assume the same workaround would work on 20.04 and 22.04.
