Any update on this bug? I am experiencing this as well. This is
especially problematic on servers with multiple NVMe drives which don't
seem to have stable device IDs. The paths under /dev/disk/by-diskseq and
/dev/disk/by-path seem particularly useful to me for having a stable
path that I can use that doesn't involve me hunting down drive serial
numbers remotely. In the case of Dell servers with BOSS RAID cards they
don't even seem to expose the controller serial number in the DRAC
making this even more problematic.

I have been able to make due for now by using the virtual disk serial
number but this generally requires me to boot the installer or a live CD
first to obtain this, which is not ideal.
