I believe I am experiencing the same issue. I've recently been keeping
track of the conditions under which this happens, and have noticed what
I think are patterns that might be useful in further tracking this down:
1. This seems to (only?) happen after I access the "Show all apps"
feature (using Super+A), specifically after typing several characters
into the Search filter, and launching the matching application. It does
not happen 100% of the time, although it is fairly easy to reproduce (I
would say at least 50% of the time).
2. When it happens, there will potentially be a series of "stuck" keys.
The order of "stuck" keys is the REVERSE order of the same keys entered
into the "Show all apps" Search filter. Not all keys will always stick;
sometimes there are gaps, but of the ones that do stick, they always
follow this order pattern.
3. Once a "stuck" key has been "unstuck", if another key is going to
"stick", it will not do so until after switching windows (via Alt+Tab,
for example).
4. Once "stuck", a key can be "unstuck" by pressing any key that outputs
a character (basically excluding Super, Shift, Control, Alt, etc).
However, the same key will resume "sticking" after switching windows
(#3) UNLESS the key pressed is the SAME key as is "stuck". For example,
if "t" is stuck, and "y" is pressed, "t" will stop printing to the
screen, but after switching windows, "t" will start repeating again. On
the other hand, pressing "t" in the same situation will "clear" "t" from
repeating after switching windows.
Example A:
1. Press Super+A to open "Show all apps"
2. Type s i g n a l to filter apps (Signal application now selected)
3. Press ENTER to launch Signal.
4. Keys I have witnessed sticking:
4a. i (three separate occurrences)
4b. g i
4c. l a n g i
4d. a n g
4f. n g i i
Example B:
1. Press Super+A to open "Show all apps"
2. Type c h r o m e to filter apps (Google Chrome application now selected)
3. Press ENTER to launch Chrome.
4. Keys I have witnessed sticking:
4a. h r m e
4b. e r
4c. r h (two separate occurrences)
4d. r h
4e. r
