Public bug reported: On two different systems with Nvidia driver which upgraded from 6.11.0-8-generic to 6.12.0-12-generic, GUI didn't come up. One laptop (single monitor) with only Nvidia output tied to a 3200x1800 screen resulted in blinking white underline cursor in upper left corner, the other (desktop, dual monitor) fell back to a text login (tty).
Both cases, the switch back to the 6.11 kernel resolved the issue. initramfs rebuild didn't help. kernel version: 6.12.0-12-generic sudo lspci -vnvn > lspci-vnvn.log --> attachment Nvidia driver: 560 ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "lspci-vnvn.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2097244/+attachment/5854835/+files/lspci-vnvn.log ** Description changed: On two different systems with Nvidia driver which upgraded from 6.11.0-8-generic to 6.12.0-12-generic, GUI didn't come up.
