I can confirm that getmail6 from noble-proposed has fixed the bug for
me.

Test done:

install getmail6, dovecot-imapd and mailutils and follow the testplan to
authenticate with key/certificate and confirm that it still fails.

Added noble-proposed to apt sources.

install getmail6 from noble-proposed.
Follow the testplan and used getmail6 with key/certificate and confirmed that
it was able to retrieve the mail.
Used the other "getmailrc" file to confirm that there is no regression for
users who are not using key/certificate.

Package tested:

$ apt-cache policy getmail6
getmail6:
  Installed: 6.18.13-1ubuntu0.1
  Candidate: 6.18.13-1ubuntu0.1
  Version table:
 *** 6.18.13-1ubuntu0.1 100
        100 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble-proposed/universe amd64
Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     6.18.13-1 500
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu noble/universe amd64 Packages

Note: These two tests have been added as an autopkgtest in Debian and has
reached Plucky.
