I have now found a way to trigger this from the amd64 Ubuntu Gutsy
liveCD: preview the Endgame screensaver in full screen, and wait until a
rook(castle) moves (this may take a few minutes, as not all the games it
shows include any). The crash occurs seconds later with the same
symptoms. This works in both 1280x800 (default) and 1024x768, using the
internal display.

There are also graphical artifacts (weird reflections, pieces
disappearing behind others they should be in front of), but these could
be a separate problem as in i386 Xubuntu Gutsy they occur but the crash
doesn't (and the graphics are a lot slower).

Does this work for the rest of you? (It also works on my installed
system, the reason for using the liveCD is to have a predictable
software environment.) Does it work in Hardy?
