Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, I encountered
the following issue:

When I unplug the power adapter, the system freezes completely and requires
a forced shutdown.
Similarly, if I start the laptop on battery and then connect the power
adapter, the system freezes again.

Additional details:

This issue does NOT occur when running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS in live mode, which
suggests the problem is specific to this version (24.04 LTS).
The hardware functions correctly, so I believe this is a software-related
issue in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

System specifications:

    Hardware Model: MSI GF62 8RD
    Memory: 32.0 GiB
    Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-8300H × 8
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
    Disk capacity: 2.0 TB
    Firmware version: E16JFIMS.10B

Software information:

    OS version: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
    Kernel version: Linux 6.8.0-49-generic
    Windowing system: X11
    GNOME version: 46

Please let me know if there is a way to resolve this issue or if there
is a temporary workaround I can use.

Thank you!
