I have an LG Gram model 14ZD90Q. It used to suspend, but now it now longer does. Symptoms are slightly different to OP's: the screen locks and goes blank, but it's recoverable. Moving the mouse or pressing a key brings up the unlock screen, exactly as though I had locked the screen rather than suspended the device. I don't know exactly when this broke, but it was roughly around the same time as bug #2081037. I suspect either a firmware update or kernel update broke some of the power management features.
