In 24.04 virtual machine I installed 1:24.04.9,

I clicked various check boxes in the package list (i.e. unselect some
packages with the mouse), no crash happened; all normal.

I executed apt list --upgradable > before, left only Vim packages
checked in update-manager, and clicked install now.

After completion I did apt list --upgradable > after, update-manager
recalculated its view and indeed the Vim entries are now gone. 'diff
before after' is correct:
