Failed to validate modules.... hmm... then it doesn't use the modules,
instead it gives up. It probably needs a module to mount the disk...
hmm.

Can you post the output of

$ ls -l /boot

Is there a initrd with 6.8.0-45-generic in the name?
initrd.img-6.8.0-45-generic? Or just -44?

Bug 2083476 seems to be the same issue.
