Another victim here in 2024... installation of imagemagick with checkinstall failed (after testing it successfully in a Docker container) and bricked a server. Not even "ls" of "cp" was working. I got lucky with the server's recovery mode, restored the symlink, rebooted and the server and it was working again. This checkinstall package should be removed.
