Public bug reported:

Several times over the last couple of weeks my laptop has been locking
up. I can ping from the outside but I can't ssh on to the machine.
Watching the screen, the mouse moves but very-very-very slowly. I've
let it run for a couple of hours and it never comes back.

I recently added a panel app to open a window running top and the last
crash I was able to start top to see what was happening. The runaway
process was livepatch.

Subsequently I disabled livepatch and the problem hasn't reoccured.
However I'm now getting crashes from the updater and it looks like
livepatch (probably because it's turned off) is causing that.

I can update the machine by hand using apt -- that isn't a concern. But
I don't know what to do to help with this problem.
