Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 24.04: removing deb-eog (sudo apt remove eog) and installing snap-eog (sudo snap install eog)
eog then fails to open local files, for example # eog ~/.local/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/firefox.png produces the attached screenshot with "Failed to open input stream for file". The file exists and can be opened with deb-eog. To my knowledge, may be solved if you add the personal-files interface to the snap. But I think that would not solve all the problems, because # eog /usr/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/firefox.png would still result in the same error. Please make the snap eog able to access all local files. It's just not a viable replacement for the deb eog otherwise. ** Affects: eog (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: eog image interface local permission snap ** Attachment added: "snap eog ends with this result when accessing images on dot-folders or outside the home directory" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2066891/+attachment/5781825/+files/screenshot.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2066891 Title: snap eog cannot access all images on the filesystem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/2066891/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
