I have the same problem.I tried the command and i think it fix the problem with vlc player.Before i cant play audio cd from there.General i cant open audio cd with audacious,with amarok i can only open an audio cd in one of my driver in my system.I think kubuntu have problem to manage the dvd-cd driver.
