Public bug reported: After upgrading Ubuntu from 23.10 to 24.04, and logging into Unity, the mouse appears and can be moved as normal, but no menus appear, clicking the mouse buttons does nothing, and no key presses do anything, not even ctrl-alt-del. It is impossible to launch any applications, or even log out cleanly.
The only way to escape is to press and hold the computers power button for a few seconds to force a hard reboot, and then when the computer boots again select Ubuntu on wayland rather than Unity.
