Okay, the Kubuntu, Edubuntu installations are now working, and I may have just been impatient with them, as I did nothing to fix them. I've been using the Kubuntu install since a few days after this occurred, and it has not flipped out at all. So, my behavior seems to be that right after playing hazardly with my flash, I had something in an unstable state that messed up my Ubuntu install, and then a day later messed up my UbuntuME install. However, it it's hardware, it's odd because it is not doing it on Kubuntu, and Kubuntu is running well for what it is. If this looks inappropriate to go on because it is something obviously to do with Toshiba Hardware or something, please let me know and I'll stop.
