Your patch won't work because it's a patch for /usr/share/applications/gtodo.desktop. It is not the the same file than the one in the source package, gtodo.desktop.in. "X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gtodo" is added automatically, that's why I didn't put it in my patch. Anyway, I will post a debdiff this afternoon.
