CASPER(7) manual page for ip options states: ip=IFACE,ADDRESS,NETMASK,GATEWAY[:IFACE,ADDRESS,NETMASK,GATEWAY]* Let you specify the name(s) and the options of the interface(s) that should be configured at boot time. Do not specify this if you want to use dhcp (default). But this syntax is not supported by Ubuntu Installer (I did not test this for generated live medium - sorry) What is supported for ip option (from klibc-2.0.10/usr/kinit/ipconfig/README.ipconfig) <client-ip>:<server-ip>:<gw- ip>:<netmask>:<hostname>:<device>:<autoconf>:<dns0-ip>:<dns1-ip>:<ntp0-ip>:...
