Not sure if I'm having the same issue, but looks similar
I have a "sis5513" IDE controller and "Toshiba mk8025gas" hard drive. The
update to gusty went ok (had to remove evms).
However yesterday (28.12.07) I've updated my system. The
linux-image-2.6.22-14-386_2.6.22-14.47_i386.deb has been installed among
others. Now my system is unbootable. The kernel doesn't detect my hard drive.
As a result I'm getting "ALERT! /dev/disk... not found blah-blah" and initramfs
command prompt.
