Thanks for helping improve Ubuntu! I only had a fast look at the debdiff so I might be wrong but it seems to me that adding a debian/install file (or a cp in debian/rules) would be enough to install the desktop file, and that would make the delta a lot smaller (as neither the patch nor quilt would be needed).
