Yes. The 1053 kernel doesn't probe the NIC, i.e., the following is *missing* from the 1053 log:

We did enable HugeTLB in 1053 but I currently can't see how this could be the problem. I noticed that yours is a 2GB model but I tested (successfully) on a 4GB model.
