Hello, and thanks for digging this thing up, i had forgotten about it. 
I did manage to fix this, by using a custom xorg.conf file. I'm on an Acer 1510 
laptop using an NVIDIA GeForce GO 5700 graphics card, and i'm attaching the 
xorg.conf i'm currently using as a reference to anyone that might be 
interested. I don't know really if i'm using the restricted driver or not, 
because i stirred some stuff up a while ago by installing/uninstalling the 
restricted drivers package and the nvidia-glx-new package and so forth.
