Same problem, getting tired of having to come here every time I try to carry out a basic task with GUI, just to find out it will never be fixed. What a joke. At this point I consider Gnome, KDE etc. as experimental beta-quality software. If you want to get anything done on linux, learn to use the command line for everything, except maybe searching the internet constantly for whatever cryptic command, option, syntax you need next. And have fun remembering it all. Sorry this isn't helpful.
