Public bug reported: The release upgrade process is supposed to disable your lock screen so that if something goes wrong you still have access to the system. However, this seems to be broken for upgrades to at least Jammy.
DistUpgradeQuirks.py has code to kill gnome-screensaver and poke xdg- screensaver, however neither of those processes are running on my Impish system. There is a /usr/libexec/gsd-screensaver-proxy process but killing that didn't stop the screen from locking. ** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Confirmed ** Tags: rls-jj-incoming ** Tags added: rls-jj-incoming ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959458 Title: Lock screen disabling needs updating To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1959458/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
