I also have a D-link DWL-G122 C1 usb pen. The rt73usb.ko module doesn't work for me at all, even when no encryption is used (I had a very unstable connection ones with a lot of messages in dmesg and I had to be really close to the access point). I switched to the driver rt73.ko from the ralink site. That worked, but as mentionned above, it does work with NetworkManager and I have to configure by command line. So every time I put my laptop in standby and resume it, I have to reestablish connection by hand. :(
I've tried also the windows driver through ndiswrapper.
