In a fairly recent Mobo ASUS P5KC everything worked (well, audio
required an ALSA update to the latest stable), except for the integrated
gigabit ethernet controller. It has the latest available bios. The GbE
controller is enabled in the bios configuration.
lspci does not even show any sign of the controller and I have no clue
what to do. Apparently some versions of the mobo have an Attansic
chipset but the driver for this is already in the kernel; I tried
modprobbing, it loads, but no joy.
This is under ubuntu gutsy 7.10 i386 official; also tried with the
latest Hardy amd64 daily as of today, still no joy, lspci shows
nothing, and there is no eth0 or anything.
This is my lspci output. Notice the atheros controller is a wireless
ethernet.
