Hi Doug, You left part of the Kernel image name off the end.
"sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic" is what you should use or you could replace generic with server as well. Not sure what difference it makes though. Also I think I am giving up on the Silicon Image card with Linux. I also tried the card in my "Arch Linux" box the other day and it also had issues after a few hours. It did work a little better in this box and seemed to work at first though whereas my Ubuntu box I notice the problems instantly. I am thinking of trying an Adaptec or a Promise card, maybe they will work better. Either that or updating the motherboard etc to something newer with SATA built in.
