tomboy-0-10-0-roadmap :

"Whether or not to use the Evolution Data Store (EDS) as the backend for
the task feature became a point of contention during the discussion.
Several other components of the GNOME desktop integrate closely with
EDS, and it is already used for task storage by the Evolution e-mail and
personal information management client. Using EDS as a backend for
Tomboy tasks would make it possible to seamlessly manage those tasks in
other applications that integrate with EDS, but it would also add a
tremendous amount of unnecessary complexity in both the implementation
and the user interface.

The developers decided that the Tomboy task system should be simple,
lightweight and consistent with the current Tomboy user experience,
which rules out EDS support at the present time. The Tomboy task system
and the EDS task system can be bridged in the future by Conduit, a
powerful synchronization system for the GNOME desktop environment that
is still in early stages of development. Conduit developer John Carr,
who was also present at the Tomboy planning meeting, estimated that
seamlessly importing Tomboy tasks into EDS would take as little as four
lines of code once Conduit becomes mature enough to be made a Tomboy
dependency. "
