Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox
It seems that M3U files and PLS files (which are both used for webradio) are handled differently when opened in Firefox - M3Us are opened in Totem, PLSs are opened in Rhythmbox. This was observed with Gutsy. Example: - go to http://slayradio.org/home.php - click on the "Broadband" link in upper left corner - Firefox asks you whether you want to open "listen.m3u" with "Video Player (Standard)" - click OK, and Totem is opened and the file is played - go to http://www.shoutcast.com/ - click on a "Tune In!" button - Firefox asks you whether you want to open "shoutcast-playlist.pls" with "Rhythmbox Musik-Player (Standard)" - click OK, and Rhythmbox is started with that file >From my point of view, this is inconsistent - it should use the same application for all types of webradio. Or is there some technical difference in these two playlist types so it makes sense to use different (specialized?) players for this? ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- M3U and PLS webradios are handled differently https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177944 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
