Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-2-generic
Today I installed a new Kernel linux-image-2.6.24-2-generic_2.6.24-2.4_i386.deb. Now powertop shows about 200 - 2000 wakeups/sec caused by "Rescheduling Interrupts". The System is completly Idle, for example Opera adds about 1000 wakeups. Rescheduling Interrupts should balance Tasks between two CPUs, maybe this is a Scheduler Problem? http://www.bughost.org/pipermail/power/2007-December/001187.html It seems to be a kernel problem, disabling SMP in the BIOS workarounds the problem. System is a Dell XPS M1330 Santa Rosa Core 2 Duo Notebook. This is a critical Bug for Notebooks as it takes about 5W more on my machine. If you need further information please tell me. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kernel 2.6.24-2 causing ~1000 wakeups by "Rescheduling Interrupts" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177895 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
