The gedit saving process IMO needs a full review - not a "run around" - this thread is eerily familiar to some of my old M$ support chains. - There is(are multiple) a problem - It is a commonly used, not kernel but critical, piece of software tagged as the "default" text editor for all things ubuntu. - And, it's deleting files in my case.
