linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-14-generic (2.6.22-14.37 vesion) have a postintall with the follows options "depmod -a -A -q -F /boot/System.map-2.6.22-14-generic 2.6.22-14-generic". I have installed this package in several machines and some of them the "-A" option causes that don't write in /lib/2.6.22-14-generic/modules.dep file because if you install manually without -A option the package write the previous file. This fails on Pentium IV processor while not in Core2Duo. Is my experience.
