The minimum specifications suck, as Ubuntu defaults to 800x600 sometimes when the appropriate graphics drivers are not loaded. I remember brand new laptops where the live CD just booted in low resolution, and I had to navigate through the installation menu by hitting tab and enter by mere guess, because the buttons were out of frame.
