  stopwatch started at grub (Ubuntu)
  plymouth visible at ~01 min 02 secs  (ubuntu logo & swirly)
  black screen and GUI/X mouse pointer @ 02 mins 21 secs (busy mouse pointer)
  wallpaper appeared at 02: mins 37 secs (still busy mouse pointer)
  try / install ubuntu questions appears at 3 mins 1 sec
  
  @ ~3 mins 30 secs the system is fully operational.

  ** Summary
  
  That's almost 8 minutes longer, with nothing but a cursor blinking top
  left of the screen without any input.
  
  In prior releases (excluding hirsute; see comparison with lubuntu
  focal), you at least get to see the media validation during part of the
  time, so at least you have some assurance the system is actually
  working.
