Public bug reported: Installation crashes after reporting "error fsyncing/closing /dev/nvme0: input/output error".
The disk had a previous unencrypted installation of Ubuntu 21.04. During installation, "erase disk, new Ubuntu installation" (or so) was selected with ZFS and encryption enabled. The above error occurred apparently at the beginning of installation, while the timezone selection screen was on. Shortly after that, installation crashed. While this error makes me think of hardware issues, I deem them unlikely as the machine is only one month old, and a subsequent installation with LVM and encryption right afterwards seems to have succeeded.
