About 30 days ago I decided to do the upgrade by doing an install from an iso disk. This was successful. My system has a separate partition for my user (dad) so once the OS was installed, I linked dad over dad in /home/dad. This is working, but there are problems that do-release- upgrade -p might have eliminated.
