Ok, I did it; with some not to bad news : it doesn't work (card not initialized), but it doesn't hang anymore.
Procedure : - Boot the Ubuntu Hardy Heron LiveCD Alpha 1 with card : same problem as before * Loading hardware drivers... [xxx.xxx] ipw2100: eth1: Failed to start the card. [xxx.xxx] ipw2100: eth1: Failed to start the card. [xxx.xxx] irq 18: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option) [xxx.xxx] handlers: [xxx.xxx] [<ffffffff880ef450>] (ohci_irq_handler+0x0/0x980 [ohci1394]) [xxx.xxx] Disabling IRQ #18 [xxx.xxx] ipw2100: eth1: Failed to start the card. [xxx.xxx] ipw2100: eth1: Failed to start the card. ... infinite loop, doesn't go further - Boot LiveCD with irqpoll option : only the IRQ problem disappears, the infinite loop stays - Boot without the ipw2100 miniPCI Wifi card : the IRQ issue, and not infinite loop (obviously) I install Ubuntu on the Laptop : it's the 2.6.22-14-gerneric kernel - Boot installation without card : no problem (no IRQ either) - Boot installation wit card : same as with LiveCD - Boot without card to update kernel : install 2.6.24-1-generic kernel. no distribution update. - Boot the new kernel without card : no probs - Boot new kernel with card : "houurraa" init: No resume image, doing normal boot... I attach lspci and dmesg. - updating distribution : no change I think he build modules are the latest (not verified). I don't think it's necessary to compile the ieee802.11 and ipw2100 from their cvs, or should I give it a try. I'm open for even more testing ;) ** Attachment added: "dmesg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10912120/dmesg-lspci.tar.gz -- Hang when loading ipw2100 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/21344 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
