Another work-around: Comment out 'match' section inside /etc/fonts/conf.d/91-ubuntu-mate-emoji.conf file.
<!-- <match> <test name="family"><string>sans-serif</string></test> <edit name="family" mode="append" binding="strong"> <string>Bitstream Vera Serif</string> <string>Noto Color Emoji</string> </edit> </match> --> I do not know what could be side-effects of this, though. P.S.: This affects anywhere we use generic font name such as 'Sans Regular', 'Monospace', 'Default' etc. In Firefox, we can see this by checking under 'Languages and Appearance'. Unless we have used custom font, it would read 'Default (Noto Color Emoji)' instead of say, 'Default (DejaVu Sans)'. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1917183 Title: Font spacing and rendering is wrong in latest 21.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mate/+bug/1917183/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
