I don't believe this will fix it, because: - the video plays fine if the screen resolution is not 1024x768 - the video plays fine if it is net set to full screen - the problem exists regardless which media player I use. - the problem also exists for 854x640 (which is 4:3), hinting that it is not an aspect ratio issue, rather an issue of video x = 854 combined with monitor x = 1024, and nothing to actually do with mplayer/mencoder at all.
