I understand sometimes 'nomodeset' is required as a workaround. That's
why it exists. However, when 'nomodeset' is used the kernel effectively
removes all hardware support for the Intel driver and others.

If you want finer control of the option you can instead use
amdgpu.modeset=0 or radeon.modeset=0 which should avoid disabling the
Intel GPU.
