Colin: [Hardy / Alpha 1 / amd64 - daily 12122007] The error is still present in the Hardy i386 and amd64 alpha 1 resease isos, including today's daily version of amd64. The only way to get past the black screen when booting the LiveCD is to hit F6 and remove 'splash' from the kernel line.
Once installed I again have to apply orange2k's fixes to get a normal splash, and tty's.
