This sounds very familiar: my laptop (MSI S260 = intel 915GM chipset) also freezes when going into screensaver mode. I have the same driver (intel experimental). Now with screensaver off and tunrining off the fearture of switching monitor off after idling (thus my monitor being permanently turned on), the freezes are gone.
