Oh, I forgot to mention - Xenial won't be fixed. It's a release pretty stable with less then a year remaining of regular support, and with older code. So, in my opinion (again) it's safer to keep it as is, and consider that degraded RAID1 + encrypted rootfs is fully supported on Bionic and so on. Cheers,
