Hmm, actually the default configuration on these images does appear to
contain an error. From the debconf database:

> Name: grub-pc/install_devices
> Template: grub-pc/install_devices
> Value: /dev/sda
> Owners: grub-pc
> Flags: seen

The correct device on newer EC2 instances would be /dev/nvme0n1. Jeff
Turner might be onto something here.
