I installed the following deb packages for kernel 5.4.51

https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.4.51/amd64/linux-
headers-5.4.51-050451_5.4.51-050451.202007090834_all.deb

modules-5.4.51-050451-generic_5.4.51-050451.202007090834_amd64.deb

I was unable to install
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.4.51/amd64/linux-headers-5.4.51-050451-generic_5.4.51-050451.202007090834_amd64.deb

which appeared to match the naming convention of the older kernel files,
as its dependencies were not satisfied.

I selected kernel 5.4.51 using the grub bootloader, but the boot process
was still very slow due to the multiple error messages from the sound
system.

I have attached the dmesg file obtained during boot-up.
